Syria traffic police role rivals in importance that of security forces

Caretaker Interior Minister Mohammad al-Shaar said that traffic police has a role which is no less important than that of the security forces and law-enforcement members in protecting citizens.
Al-Shaar, who met Sunday with traffic police officers and personnel, said the presence of a traffic police member on the street “inspires a sense security and relief among citizens.”
He urged the officers and members to embrace ethical values and steer clear of any misconduct that might tarnish their image, calling them to place public interest ahead of all else when carrying out their duties.
