
Caretaker Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halaqi set that the speech delivered by President Bashar al-Assad after being sworn in will set the features of the government’s work plan in the next stage, which requires planning, taking steps, and rallying resources to implement the directives it included.
During a weekly session of the caretaker Cabinet on Tuesday, al-Halaqi said that the next stage will focus on reconstruction and rehabilitating sectors, with emphasis on combating wastage of public funds and expenditures and providing citizens needs, in addition to reforming and developing the administrative sector, bolstering the economy, improving financial policies and exchange rates, monitoring markets, and ensuring the availability of food, consumer products, and fuel.
He called upon ministries to prepare plants to realize the directives of President al-Assad’s speech and maintain services during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holiday, in addition to improving the state of services in Daraa province.
Al-Halaqi also reviewed the state of the economy and the services sector, noting that economy is improving the SYP exchange rate is improving gradually.
Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem, presented a briefing on the latest regional and international developments, while caretaker State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar reviewed progress in reconciliation efforts.
The caretaker Cabinet discussed a number of issues, including the minutes of a ministerial meeting for resolving issues in Raqqa province, and issues affecting implementation of contracts due to the current circumstances in the country.
