Sudan bars opposition leader from traveling abroad

Chairman of the opposition Sudanese Congress Party Ibrahim al-Sheikh said Sunday that security authorities at Khartoum International Airport barred him from traveling abroad.
'I was prevented from boarding a flight to Dubai this morning and my passport was confiscated," said the opposition leader in a press statement.
Early in September Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir ordered that Sheikh be released from prison after being arrested in his hometown of En Nahud in June for publicly criticizing the ‘Rapid Support Forces’ – a militia managed by the country’s intelligence service – and accusing its elements of committing abuses against civilians.
Khartoum government had said then that the release of Sheikh came in order to create a conducive atmosphere for the National Dialogue.
