The solution to the Libyan crisis does not lie in a possible foreign military intervention but should exclusively come from the Libyans themselves, said Wednesday in Madrid Spanish and Libyan Foreign Affairs Ministers José Manuel Garcia Margallo and Mohamed Abdelaziz respectively.
In a press conference held jointly at the closing of the conference on stability and development in Libya, organized in Madrid, the two ministers underlined their “opposition” to a foreign military intervention, favouring instead an “inclusive national dialogue and a national reconciliation between the Libyans, with the exception of the extremist armed groups.”
“Libya and the Libyans don’t want a possible foreign military intervention,” said Abdelaziz, underlining that “the neighbouring countries are also against this option.”
In a reply to a question, Abdelaziz refuted the information about “collaboration between France and Algeria regarding the French military strikes in Libya.”
“Algeria and France are two countries which are helping us and which are part of the solution to the Libyan crisis,” said Abdelaziz, highlighting particularly “Algeria’s efforts to achieve a peaceful solution based on an inclusive dialogue.”
For his part, Spanish Foreign Minister insisted on dialogue and reconciliation in Libya as well as the preservation of the country’s territorial integrity.
