President Abdel Fattah El Sisi gave directives to intensify security in parks, public places and surroundings of vital facilities nationwide.

Sisi made the remark during Saturday's meeting with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and the ministers of defense, foreign affairs, interior affairs, justice and finance, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said.

The heads of the General Intelligence Service (GIS) and the Administrative Control Authority also attended the meeting, added the spokesman.

The meeting tackled the security conditions in Egypt and security measures during the coming feasts season, added the spokesman.

The president said all security agencies should be vigilant and placed on high alert.

The president also urged the government to proceed with the efforts to promote social protection networks and expanding programs alleviating the suffering of needy people.

He lauded the Egyptian people for their responsible reaction toward the recent economic reform measures in order to realize comprehensive development.

The meeting also reviewed the government measures to secure staple food commodities and maintain prices' stability.

The president called for stepping up efforts to secure all food commodities in various governorates and tighten market monitoring.
