President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday asserted the state’s confidence in the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as a main component of society.
"The state is keen on providing support for NGOs, which represent a main mechanism to activate the popular participation in development efforts and mobilize the resources necessary for this goal," Sisi said at a meeting with representatives of major NGOs working in several fields in Egypt.
The ministers of social solidarity, housing, health and education were present at the meeting.
The president hailed as "important" the role played by the NGOs in Egypt and their active contributions in efforts aimed at easing the suffering of low-income brackets and the most needy people, according to presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef.
"The state is ready to start partnerships with NGOs and carry out joint ventures in various fields," the president said.
Sisi called for achieving integration between the work of the NGOs and the efforts exerted by the government.
"The priority during the current stage should be given to pushing the development efforts ahead and joining forces to face the current economic and social circumstances," he said.
He stressed the state’s keenness on facilitating and supporting the work of NGOs and overcoming challenges that hinder their work.
