President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reiterated that the Egyptian state attaches great importance to the Upper Egypt.

The re-demarcation of the Upper Egypt governorates' border aimed to add desert and coastline hinterland to every governorate to achieve value-added quantum there, the president said.

Sisi stressed that a large part of the targeted areas of the four million feddans reclamation project and its initial phase of the 1.5 million feddans is allocated in the Upper Egypt.

The state does not plan to simply divide the land and distribute them to the people, but opted to establish integrated urban communities, he added.

As many as EGP 200 billion were allocated for youth projects, the president said.

A program was also launched to cover all villages in Egypt with sewerage projects, and 50 percent of the villages are planned to be covered within two years, he added.

Sisi called on the Egyptian media outlets to highlight the national projects, challenges facing them and efforts exerted to overcome these challenges.

The president said that Egypt is seeking to have a stake in the pharmaceutical industry market in Africa and neighboring states.

Sisi announced that the country's municipal elections would be held within the current year, urging youths to run for it to choose the best candidates who are capable of tackling corruption.

On the islands of Tiran and Sanafir, the president said that a national committee may be formed to provide all the relevant facts to the House of Representatives to study them before taking a decision.
