Cairo - Arab Today

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday attended a military parade held by the Armed Forces to mark the 43rd anniversary of the 6th of October War victory.

Visiting Sudanese President Omar al Bashir and Minister of Defense and Military Production Sedqy Sobhy, as well as a number of military commanders, ministers and governors attended the parade.

During the celebration, Sisi initiated his speech by asking the attendees to observe a minute of silence in honor of martyrs and heroes of the 1973 war victory.

In his speech, Sisi greeted the Egyptian people and the Armed Forces on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the 6th of October War victory.

Also, he thanked Arab states for their sacrifices during that war to help liberate the occupied Arab territories.

The 6th of October War victory is best proof of Arab joint cooperation, Sisi said, stressing that lessons should be learned from that heroic epic to overcome unprecedented challenges facing the Arab nation.

Sisi welcomed Bashir and pointed out that Sudan supported Egypt in its war against Israel.

The president thanked Bashir and the Sudanese people, asserting that relations between the two countries will be promoted.

Sacrifice, discipline, unity and determination were the values that helped Egyptians win the war and restore the lands, Sisi said.

The October War victory asserted the ability of the great Egyptian people to overcome all challenges and difficulties, Sisi said.

The president said that he is sure that Egyptians are capable of overcoming the current economic and development challenges.

“We are exerting utmost efforts to achieve aspirations of the Egyptians,” Sisi said.
