Sheikha Fatima Global Humanitarian Campaign concludes
KHARTOUM - Arab Today

The Sheikha Fatima Global Humanitarian Campaign has concluded its work in the Sudanese villages with the treatment of more than 1,000 women and children, as part of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Volunteer Programme.

The programme is a joint initiative of the Zayed Giving Initiative and the General Women's Union, an embodiment of their distinct partnership in the field of humanitarian work.

Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women's Union, said that the Sheikha Fatima Global Humanitarian Campaign had attracted the most prominent UAE and Sudanese medical staff, and enabled it to perform humanitarian medical work in several Sudanese villages by providing the best diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive services to the people.

She explained that the campaign succeeded in treating more than 1,000 women and children in the Sudanese villages, as part of an annual Emirati-Sudanese volunteer programme to reach thousands of needy patients through the mobile clinics and the mobile hospitals that are equipped with the latest medical equipment from the reception unit, consulting unit, laboratory unit and the mobile pharmacy unit, providing comprehensive and direct solutions for the health problems affecting women and children in the Sudanese villages.

Dr. Adel Al Shamri, Chief Executive Officer of the Zayed Giving Initiative, said that the humanitarian tasks of the Sheikha Fatima Global Campaign for the Treatment of Women and Children "Elaj" made its first stop in Sudan, in accordance with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to make 2017 the year of the good.

He explained that the treatment procedures in Sudan took place in partnership with Dar Al-Bar Association, the Charity House of Al-Sharjah and the Saudi-German Hospitals Group, in co-ordination with the Sudanese Centre for Volunteers and the Sudanese Ministry of Social Solidarity and Health.

The women and children who benefitted from the free treatment showed their appreciation for the programmes of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak's humanitarian initiatives, as this had given them the hope of healing from the diseases, under the supervision of the Emirati and Sudanese doctors who had great experience and skill while using a mobile clinic for women and children, the first of its kind in Sudan.
