His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the demolition of residences rented by the Asian workers overlooking the family residences in Al Halwan district and other areas in Sharjah. The owners of the houses will be compensated. The remarks were made during the direct link programme over Sharjah TV and Radio in a reply to a phone call by an Emirati woman who complained about the existence of the houses of Asian workers overlooking the family residences. Sheikh Sultan said the dilaidated buildings would be demolished and other buildings that need facelift would be renovated and that there would be enough space among the buildings. He reassured the complainant, Umm Omer, and those who suffer from similar problems in the Emirate of Sharjah that their problems would be solved within two to three days. He apologised to the families because of this inconvenience. The Sharjah Ruler said the houses rented by the Asian workers were actually constructed for Emiratis who rented them to the Asians when they moved to the new residences. Lina Abdul Rahman adds: A 28-year old Emirati died after his car knocked down a camel crossing the road on Al Maleeha Road on Monday He died after his car caught fire. He was driving from Kalba to Sharjah to work. The accident happened at 5.30am. It is the latest in a series of accidents involving stray animals, a police spokesman said. Following the accident, His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, ordered the Public Department of Works and the municipality to fence Maliha Road with a metallic barrier to stop camels and other animals from entering the road.
