
The UAE Paralympic team champions will receive AED10 million as a reward for their outstanding performance during the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as per orders of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
The Sharjah Ruler made this announcement in his office on Tuesday when he received the members of the UAE Paralympic team and a number of leading sports personalities.
H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and other senior officials were also present.
The Sharjah Ruler congratulated the Emirati champions for their unprecedented achievements at the international sports event that brought laurels to the UAE. He asked the media to publicise the achievements of sportspersons with disabilities.
Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Disabled Sports Federation, Head of the UAE Paralympic Committee, who is also Chairman of AI Thiqah Club for the Handicapped, praised Sheikh Sultan for the reception. He noted that the Ruler of Sharjah is the founder of sports for the disabled in the UAE.
