Saudi Arabia
RIYADH - Arab Today

The Saudi Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, on Saturday, expressed full support to the energy sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the face of an aggressive action targeting a pipeline in the Buri area resulting in suspension of pumping oil to the country, and denounced this utterly coward action, the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, reported.

The ministry also praised the ability of the concerned Bahraini authorities in successfully putting out the fire that resulted from the aggression, in a record time, stressing that it puts all potentials to support the energy sector in the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain. It also confirmed that it has raised a security alert at all facilities to the highest levels of protection and safety standards.

According to SPA, Saudi Aramco issued a clarification regarding the exposure of the crude oil pipeline that was exposed to a sabotage incident in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

In the statement, the company said: Referring to the enquiries about the sabotage incident in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saudi Aramco wishes to clarify that, at 23.00 hrs on Friday, 10th November, 2017, a fire broke out at a crude oil pipeline in Hamad Town, Kingdom of Bahrain, resulting in the immediate suspension of crude oil pumping from the pumping station in Dhahran which feeds Bapco refinery in Bahrain through this pipeline.

However, the clarification added that no damage or casualties were reported in the incident.

The area of the incident was sealed, people were evacuated and valves connected to this pipeline were isolated, as investigations are in progress to determine the cause of the accident, completion of maintenance and rehabilitation of the pipeline.
