The United Arab Emirates, GCC, Bahrain and Egypt on Wednesday welcomed the call of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to strengthen the joint action among the GCC states and the other Arab countries.
The call, entailed in a statement earlier today by the Saudi Royal Court, is meant to turn over a new leaf in the GCC march towards integration and the open new horizons for Arab joint action, according to an official statement carried by the UAE news agency (WAM).
"The UAE also expressed its full support to King Abdullah's pledge for GCC cooperation with Egypt and for the start of a new phase of unanimity and consensus among the brethren.
"It also welcomed King Abdullah's appeal to work for the success of the march towards Arab solidarity, especially in current circumstances and challenges that require all brethren to stand as one in the interest of the Arab nation," according to the statement.
The vision of the Saudi King represents a clear approach to addressing the current challenges that require collective efforts to achieve stability and prosperity in the Arab region, it concluded.
In Riyadh GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani extolled Saudi King's efforts which led to the signing of the Riyadh accord on Sunday.
"The statement released by the Saudi Royal Court today stems from the keenness of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to strengthen the GCC ranks, and achieve rapprochement and solidarity among the Arab nation," Al-Zayani said in a press release.
He also welcomed Saudi King's call for the Arab mass media and intelligentsia to contribute to the cementing of the Arab unity and solidarity, and avoid fomenting sedition particularly in the current delicate stage.
"The GCC states, thanks to the wisdom of their leaders and the awareness of their peoples, proved to be able to overcome the challenges that faced their march towards integration over the last three decades," he added.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian presidential office welcomed the Saudi statement as "a big stride towards concord and solidarity among the Arab nation."
"The statement of the Royal Court sets out a comprehensive framework for restoring unity and solidarity among the Arab countries in the face of the mounting challenges," the Egyptian presidency said.
Egypt expressed full trust in "the wise vision and honorable efforts of Saudi King for serving the interests of our Arab and Muslim nation."
The Kingdom of Bahrain said the Saudi King's statement expresses "a sincere desire and far-sighted vision for addressing the current challenges."
"The statement charts a road map for realizing the aspirations of the Arab peoples and serving the interests of the Muslim nation at large," according to an official statement carried by Bahrain news agency (BNA).
Bahrain reaffirmed full support to the stances of Saudi Arabia, outlined in the royal statement, for joining the forces of the GCC and Arab counties to address the challenging situations in the region.
