Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud decided on Tuesday to offer 500 million U.S. dollars as humanitarian aid for all Iraqis affected by the recent Sunni insurgency, regardless of their religious, doctrinal or ethnic affiliations, according to Saudi Press Agency.
Saudi foreign ministry said in a statement that the aid package will be delivered through the UN channels, and the Kingdom will continue to offer such aids so as to make sure that all of the affected people are covered.
The recent Sunni offensive that led to the fallen of a large portion of Iraqi territories into the hands of militants has forced a huge number of Iraqis to fled their homes, especially those whose households close to the bloody sectarian clashes.
