
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal on Thursday confirmed the Kingdom's support to Iraq, urging the Iraqi people to get united.
In televised statements, Al-Faisal called the Iraqi people to "be as you once were" brothers, supporters to and protectors of each other. "Doubtless, Saudis are protectors of Iraqis -- I say it loudly," the Minister said.
Meanwhile, Al-Faisal referred to the visit by Iraqi President Fuad Masum to the Kingdom, wrapped up today, as the first step for restoring "normal ties" between the two countries.
The visit opens the door wide for officials from Saudi Arabia and Iraq to meet and seek developing of bilateral relations, he said.
During his two-day visit, Masum met with King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and senior officials.
