Three men accused of being members of Al-Qaeda were sentenced to death by a Saudi court, which also gave another suspect a 14-year jail sentence and a travel ban of the same duration.
The initial sentences condemn four suspects for being behind several crimes, including forming a terrorist cell which operates under the group, according to the state Saudi Press Agency.
The four were convicted of planning the bombing of local banks through two explosive-laden vehicles and after robbing them in order to fund the group financially, destroy the Saudi economy and deliberately shoot down security forces, ahead of their escape.
They were also convicted of adopting fundamentalist thought, contrary to the Holy Quran, Sunnah and fatwas, disobedience, illegally possessing firearms and ammunition and training at Al-Qaeda bases
