A committee entrusted with paying compensations to Rafah residents is still working in North Sinai as evacuation of houses on the borderline with Gaza continues.
The committee is still receiving applications from citizens and following up the evacuation process.
Houses and shops along 500 meters of the borderline have so far been evacuated, a source with the committee said on Tuesday.
The committee is still receiving papers from residents seeking to cash compensations for their houses and lands, the source added.
Another committee inspects evacuated houses to make sure no tunnels leading to Gaza exist.
So far, 127 families have received compensations for their houses.
Residents get 1,200 pound for every square meter of concrete building, 700 pounds for every square meter of other construction with load bearing walls and 100 pounds for every square meter of land on which buildings stood.
The border area to be evacuated extends from the northern coastal region to the Rafah crossing in the south. It covers an area of 500 meters by 13.5 kilometers.
