Qandil: Egypt faces major challenges

Prime Minister Hisham Qandil asserted that Egypt is facing major challenges. In an interview with Dream II TV satellite channel on Friday, Qandil said that he feels the burdens of citizens. Asked about a price increase of butane gas, Qandil said that the price of cylinder has not indeed been increased, however it dropped to eight pounds from 20 to 40 pounds last year. "Increasing the price from five pounds to eight pounds aimed at achieving profit margin for dealers who contribute to distributing cylinders to citizens," he said. Qandil asserted the government's keenness on subsidizing bread for low-income people. He attributed the current fuel crisis in Egypt to the black market and smuggling to abroad. He asserted that the government is working on solving the crisis. Qandil said that the interior ministry faces new challenges in light of cancelling the emergency law.
