
Insurgents, believed to be belonging to Al-Qaeda Organization, attacked a number of security and government headquarters in the governorate of Lahj in southern Yemen.
An official security source said today that gunmen, believed to be belonging to Al-Qaeda Organization, launched several attacks with mortar shells, rocket propelled grenades and light weapons on headquarters of the Special Security Forces and security headquarters in the governorate of Lahj, in addition to the building the local authority in the city of Hota.
The source said that security forces confronted the attackers and forced them to flee, with no mention of casualties as a result of those attacks.
Lahj governorate is witnessing intense activity by gunmen believed to be belonging to Al-Qaeda Organization who previously launched attacks and carried out assassinations that targeted a number of security and military officers.
The attacks comes one day after gunmen kidnapped and killed 4 soldiers on board a passenger bus in the governorate of Hadramaut.
