The New Year ceremony, which was held at the Giza Pyramids plateau, proved the security and stability in Egypt, and sent a message to the world that Egyptian tourist destinations were safe, Tourism Minister Yehia Rashed said Sunday.

Rashed was present during the Pyramids celebration, marking the New Year.

According to a ministry statement, the event was covered by different local and foreign media outlets. They included fireworks shows and other performances.

Following the celebration, the minister toured some of the Cairo and Giza hotels to follow up preparations for the New Year celebrations and also met with some tourists, wishing they would enjoy their stay in to Egypt.
