Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

In line with its continued commitment to support its academic research in different fields, Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, PSUAD, today signed an agreement of partnership with ABB, a global pioneering technology leader in electrification products, robotics and motion, industrial automation and power grids. Prof. Eric Fouache, PSUAD Vice Chancellor, Mr. Pierre Leretz, Regional President IA Div at ABB and Mostafa AlGuezeri, Managing Director at ABB in the UAE, signed this agreement on the university’s campus on Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi.

Within the framework of the partnership, ABB joins the companions of enlightenment of Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi that support the university’s research in the fields of history, geography, archeology, history of art, philosophy, sciences and languages. This partnership aims to develop the university’s research activities and programmes as well as enhance the student’s academic development to prepare them for their professional careers. This is to be achieved through the annual career event the university organises and student internship opportunities at ABB.

Speaking on the agreement, Prof. Fouache said, "Academic research is crucial at our university as it creates knowledge and expands research in different fields through using various methodologies and theoretical approaches. It also reinforces the university’s international exposure and its position as a prestigious cultural institution. Accordingly, we are proud to welcome ABB as one of our companions of enlightenment especially that they share the same research interest as our university through their Research Grant Programme. They also embody technological excellence at a time where we are opening up to sciences. We are looking forward to this successful partnership that will definitely endorse our common objectives."

ABB's Mostafa AlGuezeri said, "We are very pleased to join Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi as a companion of enlightenment as ABB is first and foremost a technology company, and every year we devote more than US$1.5 billion to various research and development activities globally. We maintain seven corporate research centers, employ 8,000 scientists and support 70 universities through collaborations around the world. We are very proud to establish a collaboration in the UAE, where universities are furthering the cause of sciences. Our investment in the UAE has always had a long-term outlook, and we hope such collaborations will strengthen ABB as a preferred employer amongst the young, bright minds of the country."
