The government gives high priority to developing domestic industries, notably iron, steel and textile, as well as mining products, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said on Wednesday.
Ismail made the remarks during the opening of the 49th session of Cairo International Fair.
About 400 companies, including 300 Egyptian ones are participating in the fair that seeks to meet the domestic market's needs, the Egyptian Premier said in a press conference organized following the inauguration.
India is the guest of honour of the fair, he stressed.
The Military Production Ministry will work on during the coming period to manufacture solar panels to reduce the imports, he underlined.
He hoped the partaking companies will succeed in making investment and trade deals.
The fair, built on a 24,000 square meters area, will run till March 25.
