The Follow-up Committee of the Initiatives of the UAE President has approved the funding of a number of infrastructure and urban development projects across various emirates at a total cost of AED1.2 billion.

The effort comes in implementation of the directives of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the close monitoring by General Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Ahmed Juma Al Za'abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs.

The Committee approved funding for the Sheikh Khalifa Central Hospital in the Emirate of Fujairah with a total value of AED 865.9 million for the project. With a capacity of up to 300 beds, the hospital will provide 24-hour services to patients. It consists of 11 specialised departments, outpatient clinics and a 32-bed emergency ward. The hospital will also have a 3-storey rehabilitation centre housed in a separate building and 673 parking spots.

During the meeting, the committee also adopted a number of infrastructure and road projects, which include the awarding of a new road project linking the Sheikh Khalifa road from Maliha passing though Madam up to Al Shuwaib, valued at AED323 million. The initiative also includes funding for a number of internal roads and parking works in the residential complexes of Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah for a tune of AED12.4 million.

In a statement, Ahmed Juma Al Za'abi emphasised the wise leadership’s keenness to continue launching quality projects aimed at enhancing the welfare of citizens and developing infrastructure in all areas of the country. He also highlighted the support provided by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and His Highness's instructions to ensure the implementation of projects in accordance with the highest of international standards.

The meeting was attended by Jaber Mohammed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, General Director of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi; Mohamed Abdullah Al Rumaithi, Undersecretary of Financial and Procurement Affairs at UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs; Rashid Saeed Al Ameri, Under-Secretary for Government Coordination Sector at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs; along with a number of Ministry of Infrastructure Development officials and representatives.
