Port Said Criminal Court has adjourned until Sunday the retrial of 11 defendants accused of killing 72 el-Ahly Football Club fans in February 2012 in Port Said Stadium.
The case, referred to as the “Port Said Massacre”, was delayed to hear the witnesses.
Previous sentences had been issued against the defendants in absentia.
Another 254 fans had been injured in the violence that erupted after a football match between el-Ahly and Port Said's el Masry football teams.
The prosecution had accused the defendants of premeditated and attempted murder of a number of fans of el-Ahly.
