Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has announced temporary suspension of the operation of the Polish embassy in Tripoli, Libya and the evacuation of its employees, local media reported Saturday.
A total of 24 Polish citizens have already returned to the country from Libya, reports said.
The minister's decision came as a response to the ongoing fierce fighting in the capitol of Libya and constantly deteriorating safety conditions, according to Sikorski's Twitter posts.
Besides embassy workers, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also helped Polish civilian citizens living in Libya who wished to return to their homeland. All of them have already safely landed Poland.
