
An official source in Tuz district, south of Kirkuk that Peshmerga forces managed to repel an attack by elements of the Islamic State (IS) at dawn today on the south side of the district.
The Mayor of Tuz told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that elements belonging to the (IS) organization attacked at dawn today the Peshmerga forces within the limits of Tuz district from the south side.
He pointed out that the Peshmerga forces repulsed the attack after two hours of violent clashes, adding that the clashes led to the killing of 17 members of the (IS) and wounding 36 others.
He added that Iraqi warplanes also bombed this morning the surrounding villages of Suleiman Bek south of Kirkuk.
The elements of the (IS) tried to attack Tuz through the Salam and Bankja villages west of the district, where two elements of the Peshmerga killed and four others wounded while ten elements of the (IS) were killed due to Iraqi aircrafts bombings .
