The House of Representatives on Tuesday approved in principle a bill presented by the government to counter illegal immigration.
Following the vote on the 34-article bill, Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal said the final vote on the draft law was postponed to an upcoming session due to the lack of the needed quorum.
A majority of two thirds is needed to pass such kinds of bills which stipulate penalties, he added.
