Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Tuesday called the Muslim nations to practice more pressure to enforce the international human law and provide international protection for the Palestinians, regarding the recent Israeli aggression on Gaza.
This can be achieved through strong and immediate action and serious measures, Al-Hamdallah told the emergency meeting Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the level of foreign ministers in Jeddah today.
He urged the OIC member states to provide medical and humanitarian aid and food stuff for the Palestinian people in Gaza, in addition to receiving the injured to have treatment in their hospitals.
He stressed the need to "seize an international commitment for a comprehensive reconstruction in Gaza." Moreover, Al-Hamdallah urged political support to the Palestinian leadership on the international level.
The Palestinian PM also demanded the international community and the Muslim states to support a call seeking to ban weapon trade with Israel.
He also accused Israel of capitalizing the world being engaged with the Gaza aggression to create new facts on the ground in Jerusalem, breaking through the Aqsa Mosque and preventing Palestinians from entering it.
Al-Hamdallah underlined the necessity of an urgent and effective action to stop "violations of human rights, war crimes, state terrorism, the terrorism of settlers against the Palestinians and the policy of collective punishment (by Israel) as well as the use of lethal power against the civilians." Meanwhile, advisor to the Pakistani Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz, taking part in the meeting condemned the Israeli aggression on Gaza, said the Pakistan Foreign Office in a press release.
According to the press release, the Advisor said that in the last one month, "the international community helplessly witnessed brutal carnage of innocent and unarmed Palestinians by Israel's defense forces, armed with the latest and sophisticated weaponry." Aziz said that Israel's assault on the "unarmed Palestinian children and women was deliberate." "Pakistan condemned, in the strongest terms, the atrocities committed by Israel in Gaza as well as its attacks against the UN premises," said Aziz. "The commendable efforts of the OIC Group in the Human Rights Council in Geneva resulted in convening of a Special Session of the Human Rights Council to discuss the grave situation in Gaza. Pakistan, as the Coordinator for the OIC Group in Geneva, played a key role in this regard."
