Nabil Shaath, Fatah's commissioner for external relations, has praised an Egyptian initiative to stop the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people.
Shaath expressed his country's willingness to abide by the initiative once the Israeli side accepts it.
The Palestinian official told MENA that it was Israel's responsibility to stop the hostilities as "it is the source of aggression."
According to the initiative, the ceasefire will go into effect on Tuesday 6:00 (GMT) between Hamas and Israel with no prior conditions.
The Egyptian authorities will individually hold a series of meetings with high-level delegations from Israel and the Palestinian factions within 48 hours from the start of implementing the initiative.
In 2012, Egypt brokered a truce between Hamas and Israel following a war that led to the killing of more than 140 Palestinians in non-stop airstrikes on heavily populated areas over a week-long period.
