The Palestinian government will officially take charge of Gaza's crossings on Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Mostafa said Friday.
Mostafa, who is also president of the Gaza reconstruction committee, said arrangements were being finalized to take charge of Karem Abu Salem and Beit Hanoun crossings between Gaza and Israel.
A Palestinian staff will be responsible for the crossings and will supervise the movement of goods, people, and reconstruction materials between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, Mostafa added.
He said the staff will group representatives from the ministries of health, agriculture, housing, and civil affairs.
Mostafa said this move was considered an important step to fully re-open the five Gaza crossings with Israel to ease the movement of people and goods.
