
Palestinian Authority Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habash said, Wednesday, that Israel continues to defy all international resolutions that protect religious places in the Palestinian territories.
In a press statement, Al-Habash pointed out that there is no sovereignty over Al-Aqsa Mosque neither over all other Islamic and Christian places of worship.
Dozens of Israeli settlers have once again stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank. They were accompanied by Israeli troops, who forced the settlers' way into the compound.
Attorney Ahmad Al-Ruwaidi, head of Al-Quds department at the presidential office, told KUNA that tension has been rising in the city due to this daily raids into the mosque's yards. "Al-Aqsa Mosque is in real danger," he pointed out. "There is a need to reshuffle priorities and focus on protecting the sanctity of this holy place." In recent months, Israeli troops and settlers have escalated their raids on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
Almost on a daily basis, Israeli troops force their way into the ranks of Palestinian worshippers, triggering scuffles.
Israeli authorities are systematically acting to change the identity of several Palestinian cities.
