The humanitarian conditions of the displaced people of Shabwa province is getting worse every day, the Displaced Relief Committee's Chairman said Tuesday. Thousands of people fled from their homes in Maifa'a, Azzan, Houta and Saeed districts of Shabwa province due to the military operations the army launched against al-Qaeda since April 29. The committee has registered initially over 21,000 displaced persons, who reached Ataq, Haban and Rawdha districts, Saeed al-Marnum said, as chairing the committee meeting. There is no a figure identifying the numbers of the displaced persons who fled to Hadramout province to date, he added. They are living in harsh conditions owing to the shortage of the aid that has been provided so far, al-Marnum said. He called on the Islamic, international and charitable organizations to provide urgent humanitarian and relief aid for the Shabwa's displaced persons in order to ease their suffering and provide them with the basic needs.
