
A total of 114 meetings were held with political and social partners and thirty written contributions were received, as part of the consultations on the constitutional revision, and will be faithfully exploited, said Wednesday, a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
The 114 meetings held by the Minister of State, Chief of Staff to the Presidency of the Republic, Ahmed Ouyahia, with national figures, political parties, associations and organizations, as well as academic skills are "a large range of society and reflect President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika's willingness to reach the widest possible consensus on the suggested constitutional revision," the same source added.
The contributions received by the Office of the Presidency of the Republic "will be a synthesized and faithfully exploited until the end of August," the Presidency of the Republic affirmed.
Ouyahia, appointed by President Bouteflika to conduct consultations on the consensual constitutional revision, received between 1st and 8th July, "50 political parties and two independent parliamentary groups, representing 80% share of members of Parliament, in addition to 90% of the members of municipal and provincial people's assemblies," a statement from the Presidency stated.
Besides, the Minister of State, Chief of Staff to the President met with 8 leaders and figures of the Revolution of 1 November 1954, four former heads of government and members of the High Level Committee of the State and 15 lawyers who had responsibilities in the judiciary authorities, the bar and the Constitutional Council.
He also met four former ministers, two officials of consultative institutions, two former presidents of the Constitutional Council and a former president of the People's National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament).
In addition to the 16 university professors, including 11 specialists in constitutional law and public law, several associations and organizations were also received by Ouyahia.
These organizations include 4 organizations of the revolutionary family, 12 associations of youth and students, 11 employers' associations, 2 press trade unions, 2 organizations of workers and peasants, 3 women's associations and 4 associations of judges, lawyers and human rights.
