
The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation,OIC, Iyad Ameen Madani, has commended the decision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdelaziz, to donate half a billion US Dollars in humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people, regardless of their religious, sectarian and ethnic affiliations.
The Secretary General in a statement expressed hope that this assistance would alleviate the suffering of Iraqis. He underscored the need to launch a comprehensive and all-inclusive national dialogue that would lead to a consensual formula and to a national unity government which will bring about security and stability through the setting up of constitutional institutions in the country and the preservation of the unity of Iraq and its people.
