Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Iyad Madani on Wednesday welcomed the naming of the Iraqi president, parliament speaker and prime minister.
Madani welcomed the assuming of President Fuad Massoum of office and his assigning of Haidar Al-Abadi as Prime Minister-designate as well as the election of Saleem Al-Jabouri as parliament speaker.
In a statement, Madani hoped these steps would contribute to "political security and stability in a diversified Iraq" thus confronting challenges facing the country and the region.
He hoped regional and international forces would support Iraq to maintain unity of the country.
The OIC, said Madani, was firmly supporting Iraq's independence, sovereignty and territorial unity.
