NAMA partners with UK-based school to teach community projects skills

Twenty UAE-based women will get a chance to harness their innovation skills to benefit society in a 10-month long 'Badiri Social Entrepreneurship Programme'.

The programme is a partnership between Badiri Education and Development, one of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment’s entities, and the UK-based School for Social Entrepreneurs, SSE. The programme was announced recently at SSE’s premises in London with representatives of both organisations present.

The joint venture will see the two entities collaborating on the Badiri Social Entrepreneurship Programme, which will take 20 women on an educational journey across three countries - the UAE, the UK and India. It will give them a chance to receive first-hand experience of what it is like running a social enterprise and to be inspired by expert social entrepreneurs and previous SSE graduates.

The application process and selection for the NAMA-SSE programme will take place in the first quarter of 2018, with the programme starting in the second quarter.

NAMA is a UAE-based women’s empowerment organisation known for its array of entities and activities that support women socially and economically; Badiri Education and Development is it’s educational and capacity building arm.

The Badiri Social Entrepreneurship programme aims to incorporate profitable business ideas with projects that have a positive social impact.

We are now delighted to offer a new focus, which will see 10 women learning how to become altruistic innovators and discovering how they can use their skills for the benefit of society," said Reem BinKaram, Director of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment.

Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of NAMA, and wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah. Her Highness’s vision is to bring the entrepreneurial talents of UAE women support social issues, so that their skills can be used for good causes," BinKaram added.
