Mubarak-era interior minister trial delayed to December 18

Giza Criminal Court decided Thursday to postpone until December 18 the trial of former interior minister Habib el-Adly over charges of using his authority during his tenure to seize 181 million pounds' worth of lands and property.
The postponement came until the committee, formed to examine Adly's wealth, hands over its report to the court.
The Illicit Gains Authority referred Adly to the Criminal Court after he was suspected of having amassed a fortune through corrupt activities.
The indictment stated that Adly, 74, fraudulently accrued wealth during the period of August 1961 to January 2011, taking advantage of his influence as head of Egypt’s State Security and then as Minister of Interior.
Investigators also said that his wealth is not commensurate with his legal sources of income and that he is unable to provide legal evidence for the source of these gains.
Investigations also revealed that Adly also bought villas for each of his four children in the lush Marina beach resort in the North Coast to the total value of 29 million EGP, in violation of real estate regulations.
