State Security Prosecution has expanded investigations with eight defendants including deposed president Mohamad Morsi over charges of leaking classified documents on Egypt's national security and the Armed Forces to Qatar.
Egypt's General Prosecutor Hisham Barakat has extended Morsi's detention for 15 days pending further investigation.
During the four-hour interrogation, Morsi declined to answer questions by the prosecutors and had just said some phrases about his legitimacy as president that were irrelevant to the investigation.
The investigation revealed that the Doha-based Al Jazeera satellite TV published some classified documents that it attained by the defendants.
