
Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Muhammad Khaled Al-Sabah conferred the Kuwaiti citizenship to a number of people with distinguished services to the nation, a press statement by the Interior Ministry said on Thursday.
Four people were selected to get the Kuwaiti citizenship in recognition primarily for having the duty of protecting the motorcade of the late Amir His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah when it came under attack in 1985, said the statement.
The Interior Minister expressed the nation's gratitude to the four recipients of the citizenship for a job well done in protecting the life of the late Amir and those with him on that fateful day.
The conferral of the citizenship on the four men came at the behest of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
