The Saudi Ministry of Interior has announced that an attack against a security patrol in the governorate of Qatif late Sunday led to the death of a police officer and injuries to two of his colleagues.

Saudi Press Agency, SPA, quoted a security spokesman of the Interior Ministry as saying, "At 11:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, and while a security patrol was carrying out its mission in maintaining order at Al-Masoura neighborhood in Qatif Governorate, it was hit by an explosive projectile which resulted in the martyrdom of Major Tariq bin Abdullatif Al-A'laqi and the injuring of two security men whose health conditions are stable."

The security authorities started investigating the terrorist crime which is still under security monitoring, SPA added.
