
Security and civil protection forces in the city of Casablanca were mobilized as a man attempted suicide following Morocco’s defeat against Egypt in the African Cup of Nations’ Quarter Finals.
A young man in Moulay Rachid district of Casablanca attempted to throw himself from the third floor after Morocco’s defeat against Egypt in the Quarter Finals of the African Cup of Nations on Sunday 29.
The residents of Almasira neighborhood in the Moulay Rachid district were on their nerves for two hours until the attempt was finally foiled.
The security forces, which were in a state of alert on the occasion the match between Morocco and Egypt, hurried to the location of the incident in patrol cars and mobilized a fire truck and an ambulance in case any developments take place.
The civil protection elements finally managed to contain the situation after convincing the young man to renounce on his attempt. The authorities arrested the man and unveiled that he suffered mental and psychological disorders.
The same person who attempted the suicide yesterday was previously involved in an attack on a mosque using a sword, causing the worshipper to panic and run away from the building.
