Tribes in the eastern Yemeni city of Maarib have rejected attempts to deploy militias in place of state troops to protect the city.
The tribes warned state bodies against any attempts to bring militias to the city, stressing whoever proves to be cooperating with the militias will be considered an enemy.
The tribes, in a statement Wednesday, said they support the military and police establishments of Yemen in maintaining security and stability and protecting public and private property.
The tribes urged the Yemeni president, army and police to live up to their responsibilities in preventing the entrance of the militias to Maarib.
