Amman - PETRA

The first batch of Libyan policemen arrived in Amman on Wednesday to receive training at the International Police Training Center in line with a Memorandum of Understanding that was signed by the Public Security Department (PSD) and the Libyan Interior Ministry. Deputy PSD Director Major General Mohammad Raqqad, who received the first batch, said in remarks during the ceremony that the PSD adopted the policy of openness, adding that the PSD did not spare an effort to provide support and expertise to Arab brethren in police, security and training fields. He said that the curricula and programs that will be adopted during the training course, will enable Libyan policemen to should responsibilities in their country. Under the MoU, Jordan will train 10,000 Libyan policemen and will also provide special training for 550 others. Since its establishment in 2003, the International Police Training Center provided training to more than 53,000 Iraqi policemen as well as 8,000 trainees from the Palestinian police.
