
The interim Libyan government called Sunday on all Libyans and all warring parties in Tripoli to heal the rift and respond to the efforts exerted by the government to stop the Libyan bloodletting.
In a statement on its website, the government expressed congratulations to the Libyan people on the occasion of Eid el Fitr, wishing it to be a good chance for reconciliation, tolerance and love among all the Libyan people.
It asserted that responsibility shall be shouldered by all the warring parties through responding to the endeavors aiming at ceasefire and reaching a truce.
A powerful militia from the western city of Zintan, which controls the airport, has been engaged in two week-long battle for the facility with Islamist-led militias, including fighters from Misrata, to the east of Tripoli.
