Militants in Libya
Cairo - KUNA

Senior officials from Libya's neighboring countries on Sunday expressed profound concern over the suffering of the Libyan people and urged halting the ongoing infighting immediately.
All efforts must focus on rejecting the military option and backing the political process based on the points of reference endorsed by Libya's neighbors' mechanism, according to a press release by the second meeting of the political action team on the Libyan crisis.
The team, led by Egypt, includes Algeria, Chad, Niger, Sudan and Tunisia, along with representatives of Libya, the Arab League, and the African Union.
The conferees condemned the irresponsible practices being committed by militiamen in Libya.
They called for advancing the dialogue among the parties, opposed to violence, in order to reach national consensus and reconciliation, and work out a new constitution.
They stressed the need of enforcing the UN Security Council resolution to slap sanctions on any parties that could reject dialogue or hamper the political process and on any foreign country that proves to be providing weapons to Libyan militias.
They reaffirmed commitment to the combat against terrorism and trans-border crimes, and drying up the sources of financing for terrorism.
The conferees renewed respect for the choices of the Libyan people and support to the legitimate institutions in their role to stabilize the country.
