
A liaison office of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) for North Africa was officially inaugurated Tuesday in Algiers, pursuant to a memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties.
The memorandum was signed by the Director General of the National Social Insurance Fund for Employees (CNAS), Slimane Melouka and Secretary General of the ISSA, Hans Horst Konkolewsky, in the presence of Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Mohamed El Ghazi.
The headquarters of the Liaison Office of the ISSA for North Africa is transferred from Casablanca (Morocco) to Algiers for a period of three years starting in 2014, under the principle of alternating terms requested by the Algerian Funds for social security.
The mandate of the liaison office will be assumed by the Algerian social security and will be devoted to the implementation of a program called "Excellence in Social Security."
For its part, the ISSA is committed to promoting the activities of the liaison office and establishing links between its activities and the ISSA's program of activities, a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1927 and a UN observer member.
ISSA encompasses more than 340 national social security organizations in 159 countries.
Its headquarters based in Geneva (Switzerland), within the headquarters of the International Labour Office (ILO).
Algerian social security organizations are part of the sub-region of North Africa.
