The Lebanese parliament on Saturday voiced solidarity with the Palestinians of Gaza and the Iraqi Christians.
The parliament announced "its solidarity with the Palestinian people against the aggression being exercised by Israel," urging the "lifting of the unjust siege on the Gaza Strip, the release of Palestinian detainees and the establishment of a higher Arab council tasked to handle issues dealing with the Gaza Strip," Speaker Nabih Berri said in a statement.
"Israeli officials should be tried as war criminals for their violations in the Palestinian territories," he said.
As for the situation in Iraq's Mosul, Berri called on "the United Nations Security Council, the Islamic Cooperation Organization and the Arab League to put an end to Christian persecution in Mosul."
"The parliament condemns the persecution of minorities. It calls for effective international action to confront the injustice in Iraq," the speaker said.
