Lebanese Prime Minister Tamam Salam met on Thursday with newly-appointed Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohamed Badr el-Din Zayed on the occasion of assuming his post.
Talks covered the role played by Egypt to boost relations with Lebanon and efforts by the international community to fight terrorism, according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry.
Salam underlined the important role of Al Azhar in spreading moderate teachings of Islam.
The West has to back moderate values in the region and this goal will not be achieved unless through reaching a just and permanent peace between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, the ambassador said.
