A Lebanese army officer was shot and injured in an exchange of fire with gunmen in Al-Minie district to the northeast of Tripoli on Monday.
The gunfight coincided with a military operation in the area where the army stormed the homes of Syrian refugees and apprehended a number of the refugees for interrogation, according to local media.
Military helicopters and drones hovered over the area in pursuit of the gunmen who fled Bahnin village to nearby valleys and hills after deadly fighting in the last three days.
The fighting, which culminated in the tightening of the army's grip over the area, claimed the lives of 11 military personnel, including three officers, and 25 civilians and gunmen, and wounded 115 others.
