
The Lebanese army said Saturday its forces arrested wanted gunmen and seized arms caches during a crackdown in the eastern Beqaa area.
A large-scale manhunt targeted gangs of organized crime in the towns of Brital, Dar El-Wase'a, El-Charawneh, El-Kanisa and Ei'at, according to an army statement.
The arms cache, seized in Brital, included combat rifles, automatic guns, RPGs and a large quantity of ammunition.
In Dar El-Wase'a, the military troops seized four-vehicle load of narcotics, the statement noted.
Earlier this morning, the army engaged with gunmen who attempted to steal the car of citizen and in the ensuing gunfight the gunmen killed a woman and injured her husband and son before fleeing the scene.
